Snap-on CTR869 – 14.4 V 3/8″ Drive High-Torque Extra-Long-Neck Ratchet
Every vehicle has bolts and nuts that sit just a little too far out of reach. Your hand can’t get to them, or the socket won’t fit into that tight corner. For exactly those situations, Snap-on developed the CTR869: the new 14.4 Volt MicroLithium cordless ratchet with 3/8″ drive and high torque.
The special thing is the extra-long neck. With a total length of 58.4 centimeters (including the battery) and a 33-centimeter neck, this is by far the longest cordless ratchet available right now. That lets you easily reach a bolt or nut that sits around a corner and would otherwise be hard to get to.
Extra length, more reach
The length is the real big innovation. With 33 centimeters you reach 18 centimeters further than with a standard long ratchet. Long, long, loong, in other words. That might sound like a small difference, but in practice it makes a big one. Bolts and nuts behind an intake manifold, a bolt tucked away deep under a dashboard or right behind the engine block: with the CTR869 you can get to them. No more taking parts off just to reach that one bolt. That saves time, and time is money.
On the job
One example is removing the starter motor on a Mercedes B-Class. Thanks to the long neck of the CTR869, you reach the mounting bolts directly, without first removing other parts in the engine bay. The extra length is an advantage at the crankshaft pulley too. Access there is normally limited and time-consuming, but with the CTR869 you reach the bolts directly and the job is done in about an hour.

Power when you need it
The CTR869 delivers 109 Nm of torque. That loosens even the most stubbornly seized bolts and nuts. Is a bolt or nut completely stuck? Then you can first break it loose by hand with 214 Nm of torque and let the battery do the rest. Breaking loose and loosening stubborn bolts and nuts with a single tool, that’s just easier. And thanks to the variable speed trigger, you stay in control: start gently and then give it some gas, or tighten up nice and slow. You set the pace.
Light in the right spot
You often don’t work in full light. That’s why there’s a 6-LED ring with 18.4 lumens on the head of the cordless ratchet. The light shines exactly where you’re working, even when you’re deep in the engine bay or under the vehicle. No more holding a flashlight or asking a colleague to shine one for you. You see right away what you’re doing.
Fits the 14.4 Volt family
The CTR869 is the newest member of the well-known Snap-on 14.4 Volt family. Already have a CTR861, CTR862, CTR867 or CTR868? Then you simply use the same battery and charger. The CTR869 comes as a bare tool, so without battery and charger. Handy and cost-effective if you already have that gear. That way you build out your set at your own pace, with exactly the tool you need.
The CTR869 is made for technicians who work on many different types of vehicles. The extra reach, though, is useful anywhere bolts and nuts are hard to get to. Think of trucks and commercial vehicles, where you often have to work deep between chassis parts. Or agricultural and earthmoving machines, with their large chassis and hard-to-reach points.
In shipping, in industrial maintenance, in engine rebuilding and on the production or assembly line, you regularly come across bolts and nuts that sit just a little too far away too. In short: anywhere there are tight spaces and tucked-away fasteners, the CTR869 proves its worth.
Try it yourself?
Tastes differ, and that’s why the CTR869 comes in five versions. You can choose Red (CTR869DB), Green (CTR869GDB), Hi-Visibility (CTR869HVDB), Gun Metal grey (CTR869GMDB) and Power blue (CTR869MBDB).
