Range Rover Evoque coolant pump relearn with Snap-on
If you replace the coolant pump on a 2024 Range Rover Evoque, the job is not finished once the new pump is fitted. On the Range Rover® Evoque 2.0L I4 Diesel MHEV, the cooling system may not work correctly until the Coolant Pump Variable Flow Actuator Position Learn procedure has been completed. With the latest Snap-on diagnostic software, you can now carry out this post-repair calibration yourself, directly from your diagnostic platform, for example the Snap-on TRITON GEN3.
Range Rover Evoque coolant pump relearn: how it works
The guided procedure takes you through the job step by step. First, the software initialises the coolant pump actuator. Next, it checks that the actuator reports its position correctly. Finally, it sets the operating values needed for correct coolant flow control. As a result, you do not have to look up the right sequence or values yourself.
Because you complete the calibration in your own workshop, the car does not have to go to the dealer or another specialist. In addition, you restore proper cooling system performance, avoid customer comebacks and return the vehicle to the customer more quickly. That saves time on the lift and keeps the work in-house.
What happens if you skip the coolant pump relearn?
If the relearn is not completed, the Range Rover Evoque coolant pump may not work as intended. Modern cooling systems control coolant flow electronically, so the engine warms up quickly and then stays at a stable temperature. However, if the actuator does not know its position, this can lead to poor cooling performance, warning messages on the dashboard or even overheating. Of course, that is exactly the kind of comeback you want to avoid.
