GPF regeneration with Snap-on diagnostic testers

GPF regeneration with Snap-on diagnostic testers

With the latest Snap-on Software 25.4, technicians can now perform GPF regenerations directly on a wide range of gasoline models. The update enables safe Gasoline Particulate Filter regeneration through the diagnostic tester, including live data, pressure measurements and status checks. This prevents unnecessary replacement, maintains engine performance and works to OEM specifications. With this, Snap-on once again delivers a practical, workshop-ready extension for daily diagnostic practice.

GPFs trap soot particles created during combustion, which are then periodically removed through a process called regeneration. Understanding how GPFs work – and how to monitor and regenerate them – is essential for accurate, efficient diagnosis.

Although GPF failures are less common than some other emissions systems, clogged or overloaded filters can affect performance, trigger warning lights and cause recurring failures if misdiagnosed. Thorough coverage and knowledge of regeneration procedures will allow you to address these problems confidently and efficiently.
